About Link Up
Link Up addresses the urgent need for music instruction and resources by providing a free, high quality, year-long curriculum that teachers can implement, along with classroom materials, online video and audio resources, and the professional development and support necessary to make the program an engaging experience for students.
For more than 30 years, Link Up, a program of Carnegie Hall's Weil Institute, has paired orchestras with students in grades 3 through 5 in their communities to explore orchestral repertoire and fundamental musical skills, including creative work and composition, through a hands-on music curriculum.
The Charlotte Symphony is one of more than 100 national and international organizations chosen for this program.
Link Up 2019
This year's Link Up theme was The Orchestra Sings. Over 3,000 students in grades 3-5 in CMS, Chester and Lancaster, SC, and various other neighboring counties learned about melody as a universal element of music. This program is one of the many ways we engage students with music.
"This experience has made me inspired to learn how to play new instruments..." ~A., Pinewood Elementary
