HOLST THE PLANETS

Friday, November 30 at 10 a.m. I Belk Theater
Duration: 1 hour

The Planets by Gustav Holst is a monumental work in which each movement represents a different planet in our solar system. Join Music Director Christopher Warren-Green and the musicians of the Charlotte Symphony for this exciting concert experience!


OPEN REHEARSAL

Grades: 6-12
Friday, February 22 at 10: a.m. I Knight Theater
Duration: Rehearsal runs up to 2.5 hours with a 15 minute break half-way through. Groups are welcome to leave at that time, especially groups with a younger audience.

Students can experience the power of a live orchestra through this behind-the-scenes look at the inner workings of the Charlotte Symphony as the music comes together. Observe conductor Joseph Young as he leads your Charlotte Symphony through a rehearsal of a Classical Series program. This is a great field trip opportunity for middle and high school band and orchestra studenst to experience how a professional orchestra rehearses.

Grades: 3-5
Wednesday, April 3 at 10 a.m. & 11:20 a.m. I Belk Theater
Duration: 1 hour

Link Up is a partnership between the CSO and Carnegie Hall's Weill Music Institute to provide interactive and curriculum-based symphonic education concerts.The Orchestra Sings explores how composers and musicians create and use melodies. Participating teachers are provided free curricular materials from Carnegie Hall to prepare students for a culminating concert experience in the Belk Theater. At the concert students sing, play recorder, and move along with the Charlotte Symphony.

 


COACHING

Grades: 6-12
Duration: 1 hour

Coaching provides aspiring student musicians with invaluable feedback directly from professional Charlotte Symphony performing artists. Our musicians visit band and orchestra classes to work directly with students on a variety of musical topics

PRELUDE ENSEMBLE

Grades: K-12
Duration: 1 hour

Bring the orchestra into your school with a special musical performance! These interactive small ensemble shows support North Carolina Standard's for Music Education and blend great music along with discussion of the repertoire and their instruments.


MUSIC AND THE HOLOCAUST

Grades: 6- Adult
Duration: 1 hour

Through the music of its era, audiences will learn about Jewish culture and the horrors of the Holocaust. The repertoire features a mix of traditional and Klezmer music. Each concert includes narration and projected images that explore pre-World War II Jewish culture.
