A new chief executive will take the reins of the Charlotte Symphony later this summer.
A search committee unanimously selected David Fisk as the organization's next president and CEO. Fisk is stepping down from his current post as executive director of the Richmond Symphony in Virginia to take the role in Charlotte, which he begins on Aug. 31.
"David is experienced and thoughtful, and has proven that he has a bold vision, spirit of innovation and a passion for community access and inclusion that will strengthen and build upon the Charlotte Symphony's core values," the symphony's chairperson, Kimberly Parker, said in a news release.
Fisk succeeds Mary Deissler, who announced last August that she would be leaving the symphony and returning to Boston to focus on a performing arts consulting business. She was at the helm of the Charlotte Symphony for just more than three years.
